Our Mission, Vision and Values
Mission
The mission of the Upper Peninsula Association of Rural Health Services is to provide high quality primary
health care with respect and compassion to all in need.
Our Vision
Our vision for the UP Association of Rural Health Services is to be a major health provider in the Upper
Peninsula of Michigan which offers a coordinated and expanded system of primary care including medical,
oral health, nutrition, vision, preventive care, mental health and pharmacy.
To be the best possible health provider in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan we as an association are
knowledgeable and well trained in patient relations and have a reputation for providing respectful,
caring, affordable, quality healthcare for everyone. In other words, our actions and behavior bring
to life our mission.
Values Statement
As a community health center program, we strive to support our communities and patients by providing
service based on these values:
Patient-Centered Care
Patients will be involved in decisions concerning their care. Decisions within the organization will be
made with the patient in mind.
Dignity and Respect
We will treat all patients, visitors, employees, volunteers, vendors and others with dignity and respect.
Dedication and Loyalty
Through the services of our dedicated, experienced, professional staff we will provide the dependability
of a health care home to those in need.
Quality
We will provide quality, up-to-date care and conduct a continual review of our progress.

All decisions whether clinical, managerial, financial or other will be made with the highest ethical
standards.

We will provide services that are accessible both financially and geographically in a manner that is
non-discriminatory and culturally sensitive.

As our environment changes, we will continue to maintain the flexibility needed to support the services
in our rural communities both as staff and organization.
Affordable
We will offer services regardless of ability to pay, continue programs to provide support to those in
need and assist in enrolling patients in alternative programs.
